My Gender is Fat

My gender is fat. Capital F. Capital A. Capital T. FAT. It is heavy. It takes up space. It presses into me, leaving finger-shaped bruises on my ribcage no one can see. But me.

As a part of The Naked I: Recognize/D, a collection of work by trans and gender nonconforming writers, I directed this short piece, which explores the struggles and triumphs of life as a non-binary trans person who struggles to feel at peace with their body. As performed by Riley J. Davis, this spoken word-style performance closed the performance.
